If you have not yet read, or have not yet memorized – the VCDSRS Read Before You Ride information, please look over it by clicking HERE – ESPECIALLY if you are new to VCDSRS. There is a lot of info there – at the very least, learn Standard Formation.
DST rides should be easy enough to navigate that a rider with a modicum of dirt experience – and passenger experience – will feel comfortable bringing a passenger. I encourage more experienced riders to drag along some poor soul who thinks they might be interested in motorcycling, just so they can find out how monumentally horrible it all is. So far, that’s never worked for me: They always love it. Keep trying…
Be sure to check the DST 03 Roster, to make sure I have you on the ride. If you are on the roster, and decide you can’t make it, please let me know ASAP so I can give your space to another rider – there IS a waiting list.
If you are bringing a passenger, please email me their name.
WHERE WE GO
Meet @ BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County @ 7:30AM Saturday April 12. Show up on time with 70+ miles worth of fuel. Remember to show up at the shop at 7:30 – not the gas station.
We will be looping around the Angeles National Forest on forest roads, powerline roads, and whatever we find in between, with a lunch stop at the Rock Inn near Lake Hughes. I expect our lunch stop to be a bit on the late side, and fairly close to the end of the ride.
WHAT GOES [Items listed here represent changes to the list in the General Orientation, to which you should refer if you can’t recall what is listed there…]
PLANNED STOPS
Let’s plan on a brief stop on Magic Mountain to eat the flowers, smell the view, and take in the snacks. Or something. And lunch of course, at the Rock Inn. C’est tout.
KNOWN HAZARDS
The usual dual sport stuff. I did notice that in the areas we will be riding, the hardpan with loose grit on it is particularly slippery – corner slowly, unless you like drifting, which is easy to do on a lot of the terrain we will be covering.
Selah!
