If you didn’t know you were going to the RawHyde Adventure Rider’s Challenge, now you do. This is THE dual sport recreational event on this continent, and it happens about an hour away from BMWVC. Check out Jim Hyde’s website and find a reason to go to this event. Good people. Good riding. Friendly competition. Gorgeous day rides. Cool jackets. Cooler beer. Great food. Marvelous oak trees. Any of these are great reasons to head up to RawHyde Adventures next month. If you like, email me that you can’t make it and I will come up with a special reason, just for you.
If you have been riding in our series, there are even more reasons for you to attend. Let’s make it clear, when the dust settles, that this Band of Siblings (er, that is, Brothers and Sisters –) that rides out of BMW Ventura twice a month parts from pavement in passionate anticipation; sails along happily, at home on the slabs; can drink up and tell tall tire-track tales with the best of bards & balladeers; cheers on competitors for sheer joy of challenge; and relishes the opportunity to take action on the 2008 Adventure Rider’s Challenge slogan: “Test Yourself”.
I would like us all to be there, to ride with old friends, make new ones, watch the competitions, and learn from the pros. I would also like us to field a significant number of competitors – not necessarily serious competitors, but certainly riders eager to test themselves and have fun, regardless of ability.
If you are game to enter the competition, the next two SkilzDrillz are for you. If you’ve taken Jim Hyde’s rider training courses, you have a strong base on which to further build your skills. We will spend the next two DS SkilzDrillz focusing on body position fundamentals that help any rider improve ability to handle any given riding challenge, and look for real world applications and tests of our burgeoning skills on the terrain we find to hand.
You need not be planning on competing in the ARC to join this ride. Group size is limited, so contact the ride leader early. Also, be advised; registration for the Adventure Rider’s Challenge closes April 25!
