What to Bring - Adventure Day Rides

Let's put that another way, shall we? Here are some items separated purely subjectively into 5 categories by number; 1 being, subjectively speaking, the most important for you to bring along, and 5 being things that it is often a good idea expressly not to bring along:

1

Proof of insurance
Vehicle registration
Driver’s license
2+L H2O (I bring a 3L water-bag)
ATGATT1
Cell phone w/ ICE2 number in contacts
SOA3
1All The Gear, All The Time (wear it!)
2In Case of Emergency
3That is, a spirit of adventure.

2

Basic tool kit for your bike
Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free Card*
Earplugs
Warm and cool clothes
Snacks
Camera
Petty Cash
First Aid Kit
*That is, your membership card to the motorcycle towing service of your choice...

3

ICE list to trade with another rider
2-Way radio
Air pump
Pressure gauge
Petty Cash
Spare Fuel
Siphon

4

GPS
Tow rope
Extensive tool kit for your bike
Map of general ride area

5

Saddlebags
Household pets
Oversized egos
Passengers
Illegal substances
Street tires

There area as many more items that - if added to this list - could increase or decrease the amount of fun or satisfaction or safety or overall rolling weight you have on a given ride, as there are stars in the sky. If you have suggestions for this list please email them or add a comment to this post.

Huzzah! Another best-laid plan "gang agley" yet survived all the same.
['10 ADR 03/13 - R2 (became, oh, R8 due to mud... and stubbornness!)]
