INTRODUCTION
November’s Rampant-Wildfire-Induced Plan-B Ride – a tour of Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area (“Because even cars need a vacation now and then”…) was a great success. Now, the fires are out, the smoke has cleared, and it is time we take on the route originally planned for the DSR 09 ride. I took Don "So Cool" Gordon with me on the research ride for this one – so there would be someone around to bury me if I didn’t make it. Check out the original DSR 09 Intro to see some pix of what’s in store for DSR 10. There is even some sandy riverbed riding available in the last half of the ride. Those of us who come back at all will be out all day.
DSR 10 should provide at least a modicum of challenge even for those of November’s advanced group, which tackled Black Diamond trails on everything from a Honda XR 400 to a BMW 1200 GS, and two 1150 GS Adventures! Less aggressive riders will enjoy the go-around routes that bypass the most challenging sections. Sane human beings who chose the go-arounds will be given sufficient verbal / written directions to meet the rest of the group beyond the most difficult sections – likely showing up well ahead of them. So feel free to join up, even if just to watch the carnage. Furthermore, lunch at the world famous !SCREAMING SQUIRREL! may well be the best lunch you have the entire day.
Participant numbers are limited; make early contact with the ride leader if interested in joining this ride.
