DS RIDE 03: INTRODUCTION

After missing a month due to rampant combustion (the Day fire burned close to most of the roads we will make use of) and deceleration trauma (a pickup turned left in front of ride leader Laine MacTague in mid-September), the DS Ride series is back on track with our first loop ride!

Unlike the two previous out-and-back rides, this ride is a full loop, circling the Day fire area on alternating paved and unpaved sections of roadway. The unpaved sections are generally of low difficulty. However, in keeping with the design of this series to provide opportunities for riders to continually improve their riding skills, one unpaved section includes several sandy stretches. Tips on riding in sand will be provided to riders who sign up, and technique will be discussed during the ride. Furthermore, the logistics of the ride make it simple to skip any section and rejoin the group later.

Contact ride leader Laine_MacTague@verizon.net for more information, and to sign up. This ride is limited to 15 riders, so make contact early to reserve a space.

Huzzah! Another best-laid plan "gang agley" yet survived all the same.
