We’re aiming for the lesser of two evils this February; with luck we will avoid at least one of them! Our route will remain only generally planned until quite near the 7th; local weather will play a significant role in the final route. In general though, expect our first significant encounter with sand for this ride series. And expect curvy terrain in low (and possibly high) mountains. And expect a little desert riding. Possibly. And a little bit of easy, hilly single-track. And… anything else I find in the fridge…

For those of you who cringe in fear at the mention of sand, take note:

1) There won’t be that much;
2) If there have been recent rains, it should be well consolidated;
3) The EarthRider Skilzdrill “Sand Is Not My Foe” [DSS 03] is scheduled for 01/31/09;
4) If you live through that (and ’08 ADR 05), you have DSS 07 (“My Friend Sand”) to look forward to!

Speaking of the fridge, lunch will take place out in the boonies, as usual: Pack your own, or choose from this menu of pre-packed gourmet lunch options provided by Main Course California:

Images that appear smaller than usual -- do not fill up the slideshow frame in at least one direction -- are actually VIDEOS. TO watch, click on the image. HOW TO ACCESS FULL-SIZED IMAGES:

Click the image you like while it is showing on the slideshow. This should open a browser page showing the picture in one of EarthRider's Picasa galleries. Right-click the image and choose "Copy image address" or whatever is most like that, from the drop-down menu. Paste the URL you just copied into the address bar of your browser & click return. You should see the image by itself. If the URL you pasted has a piece that looks like this

delete the s, the number, and one slash. Then hit return again. You should see the full size image.
