Our February ride, Sand Without Snow, an attempt to avoid mud caused by recent rains, turned into Sand, Mud, Rain, Fog, Sleet, Hail, Huge Puddles, AND Snow (check out the photos in VCARS In Words & Pictures, below).

"Do-over! I call, Do-over!"

We'll try that one again, for March, pushing back our other planned rides. Early spring will be a great time for taking in the spectacular views offered along this route - in dryer conditions. Expect a sandy section - complete with go-around - a little easy single track, and incredible views from many miles of high mountain fire roads.

Lunch will take place out in the boonies, as usual: Pack your own, or choose from this menu of pre-packed gourmet lunch options provided by Main Course California:

Ham & Cheese Croissant
Thick-sliced ham, dijon mustard & Swiss

BLTA
Apple-wood smoked bacon, local lettuce, sun dried tomatoes & avocado with herbed mayo on a baguette
~or ~
Roasted Turkey Sandwich
House Roasted Turkey, roasted red peppers, red onion marmalade & arugula with herbed mayo on a baguette

Grilled Veggie
Balsamic grilled portobello, eggplant, red onion, red pepers & butternut squash with from-scratch hummus & chimichuri

~All options include Chef Rachel's homemade energy bar & farmer's market apple~

HOW TO ACCESS FULL-SIZED IMAGES:

Click the image you like while it is showing on the slideshow. This should open a browser page showing the picture in one of EarthRider's Picasa galleries. Right-click the image and choose "Copy image address" or whatever is most like that, from the drop-down menu. Paste the URL you just copied into the address bar of your browser & click return. You should see the image by itself. If the URL you pasted has a piece that looks like this

delete the s, the number, and one slash. Then hit return again. You should see the full size image.
