Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Adventure-Ride Here.The DSR series is almost over, and yet… you are all still in one piece! What went wrong? Clearly, many of you have learned far too well how to handle a GS off-road, and now there is little time left in which to remedy the situation…
Come on this ride and you will almost certainly fall into a riverbed. Come on this ride and you might end up buying another two mirror mount bolts and a shift lever. Come on this ride and you may well find yourself saying something like, “It’s right there, down in that copse of scrub oak. Help me haul it back up, will you? I’ve got this tow rope…”
I wouldn’t come on this ride, frankly. I would stay home and watch it on television (they’ll need a helicopter to film it). There is way too much single-track – and it is way too narrow in places. There are way too many tight turns, an unbelievable gaggle of steep climbs. The number of big loose rocks exceeds the BMW recommended daily GS BLR (that is, Big Loose Rock) Allowance by 125%. The exposure is, at times, mind-numbing.
On the other hand, if you do come on this ride – and make it back – you will of course be eligible to come on the Last, Final, Penultimate DS Ride, “DSR 13 the Fate-Tempting”. Not to mention the adoring worshippers you will accrue…
Hmm…. Tough choice. Limited to 12 riders. Prayer wheel and tow strap mandatory *. Contact the ride leader to register.
