DS RIDE 02: INTRODUCTION
August’s “Prelude” ride was a big hit, and it left those of us who rode thinking; “What we need now is another Prelude.” Get ready for a full day of the same kind of entry-level off-pavement fun, only more. The slab ride from the shop will be longer as well, taking us over the varied terrain of two counties, including not only the smooth and sweeping backroad curves we celebrated on DS Ride 01, but steep tree-crowded grades, twisted one-lane hill routes, and sections made up more of pothole than pavement!
Like its predecessor, this ride is designed for the dualsport rider with little or no off-pavement experience and a desire to change that. The off-pavement terrain and surfaces we will encounter on this ride are similar too – and possibly less challenging than – what we experienced during the August ride. However, you will be presented with many opportunities to choose more challenging options during the ride. This is a great opportunity to start polishing the skills we introduced ourselves to on August 6, and try out a few new ones.
The more experienced riders who came along in August had a great time, as well as an audience eager to soak up technique tips. We want more of you along on this one! If you would like to sign on for this ride, email ride leader Laine_MacTague@verizon.net. This ride is limited to 16 riders, so make contact early to guarantee yourself a space.
